"Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses? Jesus replied, 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" Matthew 22:36-39 (NLT)
Believing in the value of relationships and empathy, The Comfort Buddy Mission aims to build community by recognizing and uplifting anyone who may be experiencing unfortunate life events.
WHAT IS A COMFORT BUDDY?
A Comfort Buddy is someone willing to take a simple moment of time out of their busy life to recognize the need of another they may bome into contact with. A Comfort Buddy may open a listening ear, say a prayer, offer a hug, or lend a helping hand. Being a Comfort Buddy requires action, an action we would like to believe is motivated by the strongest force we have to combat the woes of our world, LOVE!
WHO WE ARE:
The Comfort Buddy Mission (TCBM) was started behind the razor wire of a Michigan prison by men that are seeking to reintegrate with the community. It is the unfortunate reality that our incarcerated citizens are defined by the crime that they have been convicted of. Trying to create partnerships within society, whether for support or help in rehabilitation can prove challenging. So, a group of men chose to put their heads together and overcome adversity to showcase to the world change is possible.
The Comfort Buddy Mission is a Bible believing, Christian mission underneath Lighthouse International Ministries. A registered 501c(3) nonprofit organization. Standing on our faith and the belief of bearing one another's burdens, we have created a platform for incarcerated citizens to build a portfolio of their activities behind the razor wire of a prison. Instead of merely being an incarcerated citizen, TCBM has offered the opportunity to become an Inside Member and a part of a team seeking to battle the woes of our world.
Our Inside Members have chosen to live a life of love which is upheld by their actions. These men and women, albeit incarcerated, are using their artistic abilities to create items, tangible or intellectual, that TCBM delivers into the community finding individuals who may need uplifting. These free-will donations range from crochet/knit hats, scarves, and stuffed animals to paintings, poems, and other inspiring words.
As an Inside Member, these men and women realize the error of their ways that has led them to incarceration. It is only through hard work and time that one can begin to rebuild their reputation. Over time, our Inside Members hope to establish a level of trust that will assist them with reintegration with the communities they have offended. Feel free to bookmark an Inside Members page and follow their contributions.
Furthermore, we have an Inside Inspiration page where our members are welcomed to share their words of encouragement to the world. Check out this page regularly to read what is on the minds of our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Would you like to become a Comfort Buddy? Would you like to partner with our Inside Members and work towards being the change we wish to seek? The same artistic abilities displayed by our Inside Members can be displayed by you. Come along side of us, pick your crochet hook, knitting needles, or your paintbrush. Let's create something together to brighten the lives of those we come across.
